Martinez Scenic Shoreline Adventures

Almost any time is a good time to go kayaking ...

it's always fun to get out on the water!

We plan our adventures around the currents and tides.
OR call us to arrange a date and time that works for you.

Martinez is the home of John Muir, Joe DiMaggio and believe it or not, the martini! It's a great destination for connecting with nature - walking, biking or paddling. Martinez is blessed with a wonderful wetlands coastline with lots of cool places to explore! Check out our scenic shoreline park. We encourage you to get out on the water with Westwind Adventures, then have dinner in town at one of our many excellent restaurants.

We offer three Kayak Martinez adventures, all launching from the Martinez marina:

Individual & Group Rates

  • Enjoy the scenic hills

  • Ride the current and waves

  • Sunsets on the Straits  can be spectacular!

Explore the Carquinez Straits

This adventure includes the Martinez Wetlands paddle then takes us down the Straits along the coast to Castaway Beach. We paddle out with the ebbing tide and return with the flood. Ideal for gung-ho paddlers who want a longer paddling experience.

Taking a break at Castaway Beach

Crossing the Straits to Benicia

This is a longer adventure that will take us down the Straits to Castaway Beach, then across the channel to explore the coast of Benicia. Along the way we'll explore the islands (and currents!) off Benicia Point. On our return, we'll check out the Martinez wetlands.

For more experienced outdoor adventurers and novice kayakers, river crossings are ideal to help build your confidence for longer paddles and more challenging conditions. You'll learn about the dynamics of the Straits and basic navigation.

These trips are scheduled to catch the ebbing current down and the flood current back (it's easier that way!).
